The Feng Yong Chao Yang project, nestled in Hangzhou's Gongshu District, is more than just a residential area; it's a reimagining of contemporary living. The design team, led by Wang Dan and Zhang Jiyu, has meticulously planned the community to prioritize internal spaces, aiming to create an oasis of tranquility that contrasts with the bustling city life. This secluded garden-style community is a testament to the designers' commitment to crafting a harmonious living environment that balances the needs of modern urban dwellers with the desire for natural beauty.
What sets Feng Yong Chao Yang apart is its forward-thinking design that anticipates the trajectory of urban growth. The project maximizes the site's inherent advantages—its natural landscape, convenient transportation, and commercial opportunities—while respecting regional characteristics. The result is a unified architectural masterpiece that not only meets the city's strategic goals but also exceeds the expectations of both the designers and their clientele.
The realization of this design is a symphony of modern aesthetics and functional technology. Each building showcases a sleek, contemporary style, with frame structures that soften the visual impact of the high-rises. The use of glass curtain walls, aluminum panels, and strategic stone cladding ensures that the buildings exude elegance and timelessness. This material harmony is not just about looks; it's about creating a high-quality living experience that stands the test of time.
Feng Yong Chao Yang's architectural blueprint reveals a thoughtful arrangement of seven high-rise buildings, with a total floor area of 111,792.2sqm. The design integrates the ground floor with natural landscapes, fostering a seamless connection between the built environment and its surroundings. The community is designed with accessibility in mind, featuring a pedestrian and vehicle separation system that ensures safety and inclusivity for residents of all ages.
The community's design philosophy extends beyond the aesthetics and into the realm of interaction. It operates as a self-sufficient entity with a robust internal system, while also encouraging engagement with the external environment. The north entrance is home to a commercial space that merges with the outdoor landscape, creating a dynamic commercial hub that resonates with the urban fabric. This approach not only enhances the living experience within the community but also contributes to the vitality of the city.
From its inception in February 2022 to its expected completion in June 2025, Feng Yong Chao Yang is poised to become a new landmark in Hangzhou's Gongshu District. The project's research delved into the challenge of revitalizing the lifestyle in Hangzhou's old city amidst rapid urbanization. By creating a harmonious internal community system and strategically integrating with the urban interface, the design team has forged a new icon for the city's future growth.
Overcoming the site's previous industrial identity, the design team faced challenges such as limited space, high plot ratios, and environmental noise. The solution was a master plan that focuses on the internal community experience, with three-layer glass curtain walls along the city road to buffer noise, and thoughtful apartment layouts that place public areas towards the noise, preserving the tranquility of private spaces.
GD's Feng Yong Chao Yang stands as a beacon of serene urban living, where the full-glass curtain walls reflect the sky's clarity, inviting residents to a journey of discovery and comfort. This project is not just a place to live; it's a lifestyle statement that harmonizes with the cultural tapestry of Hangzhou. Recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in 2024, Feng Yong Chao Yang is celebrated for its innovative design that enhances quality of life and contributes to a better world.
