The design of i+da is centered around the concept of creating an immersive and inviting environment for customers. The furniture and architectural elements in the store are carefully crafted to maintain and emphasize organic shapes, creating a sense of equilibrium and harmony. The use of organic forms not only adds visual interest but also enhances the overall experience for customers.
One of the key strengths of i+da is its ability to adapt to different spaces within the drug store. The furniture is designed to fuse seamlessly with the unique layout of each store, allowing for customization based on the specific merchandising needs of different products. This attention to detail draws the attention of customers and creates a sense of novelty and excitement in the buying process.
Textures and finishes play a crucial role in the design of i+da. By playing with different heights and dichromatic colors, the design team has created a sense of depth and spaciousness within the store. The use of white allows customers to view the symbiosis between the outside surroundings, while black adds a touch of formality and seriousness to the space.
The architectural proposal for i+da is based on a real local polygonal shape of 8000 mm x 15000 mm x 2900 mm. This unique shape adds to the distinctive character of the design and sets it apart from traditional drug stores.
The interaction within i+da is designed to make customers feel immersed in the world of pharmaceutical products. The layout of the store encourages customers to explore different environments and interact with various displays, creating a sense of familiarity and comfort. Natural light is strategically directed into the store, creating beautiful shadow and light contrasts through the use of short showcases and vertical organic acrylic strips.
The design concept for i+da was presented to the client in Zaragoza, Spain in February. While the refurbishment of the premises has not yet started, the project showcases a new visual language for pharmacies, creating a profitable space with a strong identity.
Throughout the design process, the team faced the challenge of creating a contemporary design that stood out for its uniqueness while working within a limited budget. The solution was to maximize each element and "do more with less," resulting in a design that is both visually striking and cost-effective.
i+da has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the Silver A' Design Award in 2012. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and creativity, leaving a lasting impression on viewers. The design of i+da showcases a remarkable level of excellence and introduces positive feelings, amazement, and wonder to customers.
