Conceptual Minimalism: A Sophisticated Office Design by Helen Brasinika

An Office Space that Embodies Minimalism and Functionality

Informed by conceptual minimalism, the new interiors were designed to relocate a multidisciplinary design studio following a rebranding architectural brief. The target was the interior to reflect the studios aesthetic and environmental concerns. The architectural dialog starts from the scape, yet the building is not a mere accumulation of materials on XYZ axis, but a procedure which allows the essences of space, materials, light and human condition to blend in order to achieve simplicity.

In the world of design, minimalism is a concept that continues to captivate and inspire. Helen Brasinika, a renowned designer, has taken this concept to new heights with her latest project - a small-scale office space that embodies the principles of conceptual minimalism. The office, designed for a multidisciplinary design studio, showcases the perfect blend of aesthetics and functionality.

The open plan space is the highlight of this design, with clean lines and big glazed openings that allow ample natural daylight to flood the room. This not only creates a bright and inviting atmosphere but also emphasizes the importance of space and function unity. The choice of a light color palette, combined with a variety of materials and textures, adds depth and visual interest to the office.

One of the unique aspects of this design is the selective use of art pieces. These carefully chosen artworks play with color and texture, further enhancing the overall aesthetic of the space. The furniture, custom-designed and produced, not only serves its functional purpose but also adds to the symbolic nature of the materials and structures used.

Technologically, this design incorporates LED lighting and linear accents that highlight the planes, both vertically and horizontally. This not only adds a modern touch but also creates a visually dynamic environment.

Despite its small size, the office is designed to accommodate different functions and routines. The layout allows team members to interact and work together seamlessly on project-based tasks. The studio also incorporates storage and filing space, cleverly arranged around the elevator box.

Throughout the design process, sustainability was a key consideration. The studio used only sustainable products, pigments, and varnishes that are VOC emissions-free. Additionally, the design maximizes the use of natural daylight, following the guidelines of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) for bioclimatic design.

The project, which started in April 2011 in Athens, Greece, was completed in June 2011. Despite the initial limitations posed by the floorplan layout and building orientation, Helen Brasinika successfully overcame these challenges to create a space that exudes simplicity and elegance.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the prestigious A' Design Award. Awarded Silver in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2013, this design showcases outstanding expertise, innovation, and a remarkable level of excellence.

Conceptual minimalism has found its perfect expression in this office space designed by Helen Brasinika. With its clean lines, functional layout, and attention to detail, this design sets a new standard for office interiors.
