The design team, comprising Migle Vasiliauskaite and Kotryna Zilinskiene from PRIM PRIM Studio, along with SPRIK architects Ieva Cicenaite, Mantas Olsauskas, and Mindaugas Reklaitis, embarked on this project in October 2012. The project was completed in May 2013 in Druskininkai, Lithuania.
SAKÀ's visual identity is not limited to its logo and name design. It extends to the graphics of each room, which includes symbol design, wallpaper patterns, designs for wall pictures, and pillow appliques. The design also covers web design, postcards, badges, name cards, and invitations.
Each room in the guest house presents a different legend associated with Druskininkai and its surroundings. Every room has its own symbol, a keyword from the legend. These icons appear in interior graphics and other objects, forming the visual identity of the guest house.
The strength of this design lies in its unique approach to storytelling. By integrating local legends into the design, PRIM PRIM Studio has created a visual narrative that guests can experience as they move from room to room. This approach sets SAKÀ apart from other guest houses and contributes to its unique charm.
The Golden A' Design Award, which SAKÀ won in 2014, is granted to creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. These are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
In conclusion, PRIM PRIM Studio's design for SAKÀ is a testament to the power of integrating cultural narratives into design. It showcases how design can be used to tell stories, create unique experiences, and build a distinct visual identity. With its innovative approach and award-winning design, SAKÀ is a shining example of how design can be both functional and meaningful.
