CHI on Jardine's Lookout

Residential Apartment Designed by PplusP Designers Ltd.

Incorporating Feng Shui into Contemporary Design

In traditional Chinese culture, the concept of chi, meaning natural energy flow, is deeply ingrained. Feng Shui, the ancient Chinese art of design, emphasizes the balance and flow of chi to create a harmonious living environment. With this understanding, PplusP Designers Ltd. embarked on a unique project to combine the principles of Feng Shui with modern contemporary design in the CHI on Jardine's Lookout residential apartment.

The main entrance of the apartment, known as the "Mouth of Chi," is a focal point where chi is channeled and constantly replenished throughout the living spaces. The position of the entrance door has been carefully considered to nourish the house and cultivate the health and wealth of the family. To enhance this concept, the designers incorporated an Ancient Coin patterned finish on the ceiling, creating a contemporary interpretation of this traditional element. Dual layers of plywood with laser-cut circles and warm LED lighting accentuate the design, while a striking console table and bronze pendant lamps complete the Zen-like ambience.

As one progresses through the apartment, the corridor showcases three-dimensional molded facades on each door, symbolizing the future generation of the residing family. The study room, designed with a minimalistic approach, incorporates a green and natural color palette to promote study and work. The room's versatility allows for future changes as the family grows.

The design of the baby's room focuses on providing stimulation for the infant with a colorful vibrancy of pastel colors. The master bedroom exudes a masculine atmosphere, complemented by Forestier Fil De Fer pendant lamps and a luxurious curved walnut finished backdrop with inset photo frames. The en suite bathroom connected to the master bedroom creates a subtle contrast between the masculine and feminine elements of the space.

The CHI on Jardine's Lookout residential apartment spans 2028 square feet and was completed in Hong Kong between October 2012 and September 2013. The project aimed to create a harmonious and relaxing atmosphere by incorporating Feng Shui principles into contemporary design. The attention to detail, from the positioning of the entrance door to the use of color palettes and lighting, showcases the expertise and innovation of PplusP Designers Ltd.

This exceptional design was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2014 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. The award recognizes the outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill demonstrated by the design, which elicits positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
