Double Tree by Hilton, Chinchwad: An Epitome of Elegance and Efficiency

The inspiration behind this design was a clear vision from the owners: to create a business hotel that offers a tasteful blend of contemporary and chic décor, impeccable service, and warm hospitality. The hotel was to be located in an enviable location and offer diverse dining options for local patrons. The concept of 'Simple yet Elegant' emerged from the need to optimally utilize the available space and go vertical.

What sets the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pune apart is its central location in the heart of the automobile and industrial belt. This strategic location provides easy access to business districts such as Chakan, Hinjewadi IT Park, and Talegaon. The hotel's amenities, including a 24-hour business center with flexible meeting space and complimentary Wi-Fi, cater exclusively to corporate travelers. Leisure visitors, on the other hand, can enjoy the multiple entertainment and shopping districts nearby.

The realization of this design was a meticulous process, with emphasis on optimal space utilization. The vertical connection was established via elevators and staircases designed at the extreme ends. The circulation of guests and service areas were planned to avoid crossing. Split levels were introduced to take advantage of the available space. The structure is a frame structure up to the 2nd floor and RCC sheer walls till the Suite floor, converting back into a frame from the lounge onwards.

The hotel's design faced several challenges. The site initially housed a small hotel of fifty rooms that had to be retained. The new hotel was to be designed and constructed in an open plot behind the existing hotel. After the completion of the new hotel, the existing hotel was to be demolished. The restriction of site dimensions imposed vertical movement, and the planning of services was a significant challenge. The solution was to go for a double basement to incorporate back of the house and services areas, and the Lap pool was designed as a rooftop feature.

This design has been recognized for its excellence, winning the Golden A' Hospitality, Recreation, Travel and Tourism Design Award in 2014. This award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom.
