Raw Material, an independent designer brand created by Zhongkai Li, challenges traditional thinking and reinterprets everyday objects and materials to create a unique brand identity. Raw Material draws inspiration from the beauty of daily life, finding intrigue in the ordinary. Zhongkai Li, the designer behind the brand, is constantly excited about exchanging ideas with crossover designers, which leads to abundant happiness and fruitful enlightenments. The realization of Raw Material's designs involves a combination of traditional printmaking techniques and digital integration. Zhongkai Li draws inspiration from nature and scenes in our lives, capturing them through the rubbing method of printmaking and kaleidoscope. These elements are then digitally integrated and presented through digital printing and silkscreen techniques. This process not only restores the authentic emotional response from the objects but also challenges the possibilities and uncertainties of materials.

Raw Material's designs come in various sizes, ranging from kerchiefs to scarves and clothing. The brand continues to research new season products, with a focus on incorporating Chinese traditional arts and crafts, such as embroidery and tie-dye, as well as natural materials like bamboo and ceramics. This integration of traditional techniques and materials reflects the brand's philosophy of "heaven-man syncretism," where humans and nature are interconnected as part of a larger whole.

Raw Material's journey began in March 2013 in Beijing and concluded in June 2013. Throughout the project, Zhongkai Li faced the challenge of reflecting China's philosophy system and the concept of "heaven-man syncretism." However, through meticulous research and creative exploration, Raw Material successfully captured the essence of this philosophy in its designs.

Raw Material's unique approach to design has garnered recognition and accolades. In 2015, the brand was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This prestigious award recognizes designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
