Unveiling the Sixtieth Anniversary Poster by Jocelyn Shi

Blending Tradition and Innovation in Commemorative Design

The inspiration for this design came from tables and popular dynamic three-dimensional graphics visual techniques. Shi saw tables as a representation of rationality, rigor, and technology, and decided to use similar tables to depict the school's progressive and rigorous teaching methods. The designer's goal was to merge the digital graphics of the sixtieth anniversary with the school's representative graphics, a process she accomplished through dynamic three-dimensional transformation.

What sets this series of posters apart is the use of abstract graphics to represent a range of design disciplines. The combination of two-dimensional abstract graphics and three-dimensional rendering techniques brings out a sense of science, technology, and futurism. The dynamic graphic in the middle of the picture, initially the logo of the college, transforms into the 'sixty' graphic of the sixtieth anniversary, making the transformation process intriguing.

The posters were created using AI C4D PS and measure 70cm by 100cm. They can be displayed as static posters or played as looping videos, offering a versatile way to celebrate the anniversary. The project, which started in Wuxi in April 2020, was completed in June 2020.

Shi used the "double diamond" design method to guide her design work. This approach helped her identify the highlights of her design and gave her work more developmental possibilities, such as three-dimensional dynamics and circular animation. One of the challenges she faced was studying graph transformation for motion graphic design.

The Sixtieth Anniversary poster series has been recognized for its creativity and innovation, earning a Silver A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, technical excellence, and artistic skill.
