The goal of the logo redesign was to find a way to simplify the logo while supporting the idea and objectives of the portal. The inspiration for this logomark came from the symbol of refreshment, commonly seen in web browsers. The negative space was chosen to incorporate the symbol peacefully into logos. This symbol was then combined with the symbol of conversation, represented by a bubble, which allows for further usage in communication portals such as printed materials and merchandising. The letter R was also integrated into the design.
The creation of the logo began with sketching on paper, using the classic method of pencil and paper. Only the selected sketches and ideas were presented to the client. Once the logo idea was chosen, the design process moved to the computer, where the logo was vectorized and further refined manually. The logo was designed to be easily readable even at small sizes, such as 15 mm.
Creating a logo with negative space is always a challenge, as it requires finding a non-violent way to incorporate the symbolism into the design. However, Miro Kozel successfully overcame this challenge and created a logo that effectively represents the portal and its objectives.
The Refresher.sk logo design project took place in Bratislava from January to March 2013. This design has been recognized for its creativity and ingenuity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in 2015 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
