The inspiration for this design was drawn from the museum's benefactor, the President of Taikang Life Insurance, one of the largest in China. The design incorporates the initial of the President's father, Wanlin, as a tribute to his generous contribution. The Wanlin Art Museum, located on the university campus, serves as a central meeting point for students to honor and appreciate art, while also embodying the characteristics of a typical art gallery.
The logo's unique properties lie in its ability to reflect the humanistic aspect of art appreciation. It signifies the starting line of college students' lives, with the art museum acting as an opening chapter for their lifelong journey of art appreciation. The design is a visual representation of the initial of Mr. Wan Lin, using 'starting lines' to exemplify the beginning of young students' endeavors and their aspiration for arts.
The realization of this design was a creative challenge that required the Dongdao Design Team to incorporate several elements into a single visual representation. The logo needed to reflect the museum's role as a central meeting point for students, an art gallery, and a symbol of humanistic values. Despite these challenges, the team successfully created a logo that encapsulates all these elements.
The design project was carried out in Wuhan, China, by the Dongdao Design Team. The team's creativity and dedication to the project resulted in a logo that not only represents the Wanlin Art Museum but also stands as a symbol of the students' journey in art appreciation. The logo's design and its underlying message have earned it the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2016.
The Golden A' Design Award is granted to creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. It recognizes products and ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics. The Wanlin Art Museum logo, with its unique design and profound symbolism, is a deserving recipient of this prestigious award.
