Domino: A Versatile Storage System

Combining Contemporary Production and Craftsmanship

Domino, designed by the INN Project Agency, is a unique storage system that strikes a perfect balance between contemporary production and craftsmanship. It is a versatile product developed to support different activities of home living, offering a customizable and functional solution for organizing spaces.

One of the key features of Domino is its modular design. The system consists of a module and a set of components, allowing for various combinations to suit individual needs. The neutral shapes and customizable internal colors make the product approachable and allow users to personalize it according to their preferences.

The production process of Domino combines contemporary industrial processes with traditional carpentry techniques. The external structure is built with solid oak boards, while the interior is made of environmentally-friendly materials such as mdf. The finishing surfaces are treated with hydro lacquer, ensuring compliance with international regulations for emissions.

Domino's functionality extends beyond its physical attributes. The product aims to captivate users by stimulating their senses. The unexpected combination of natural wood with vibrant colors reveals itself when the cabinets are opened, creating a visually striking and engaging experience.

The design team behind Domino, Sebastián Rial and Federico Senociaín, embarked on extensive research to develop this innovative storage system. They explored the relationship between function and ergonomics in domestic activities, as well as the symbolic value that materials have had on furniture historically.

The project, which started in August 2014 and finished in November 2014 in Montevideo, Uruguay, faced its fair share of challenges. The designers had to find the delicate balance between contemporary production and craftsmanship, which ultimately became the main differentiating factor of Domino.

Recognized for its well-designed, practical, and innovative features, Domino was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2015. This prestigious accolade is given to creations that meet professional and industrial requirements while contributing to a better world.
