The Cancun Center stands out with its expressive silhouettes that symbolize the freedom of the wind and the constantly changing dynamism of the Caribbean. The design team has successfully translated these elements into the architecture, creating a building that exudes brightness, warmth, and rejuvenation. This iconic structure is set to become a symbol of contemporary design in Cancun, the Caribbean, and the world.
Utilizing cutting-edge technology, the design team employed a drone to capture precise measurements of the building's volume. Through a process known as "Photogrammetric," they generated a 3D model using Autodesk Re-Cap. This innovative approach allowed for accurate scaling and detailed representation of the design.
Given the high risk of hurricanes in Cancun and the Caribbean, the design team took extra precautions to ensure the building's resilience. By experimenting with 3D building models on a Virtual Fluid Dynamics Simulator, they gained valuable insights into the flow behavior of winds. This research informed the design's structural integrity, making it capable of withstanding the region's challenging weather conditions.
The renovations of the Cancun Center encompassed both the interior and exterior of the building. Seven exhibition rooms were remodeled, breathing new life into the space. The exterior facade underwent a transformation, further enhancing the building's visual impact.
The design team, led by architect Sergio Sanz Pont, consisted of a talented group of individuals who contributed their expertise to bring the Cancun Center to life. From architects and graphic designers to CG artists and consultants, each team member played a crucial role in the project's success.
Operating as an international conventions center, the Cancun Center provides a platform for individuals, agencies, and corporations to showcase their ideas and innovations. With its strategic location in Cancun, Mexico, this iconic building is set to become a hub of creativity and collaboration.
The design of the Cancun Center was a result of extensive research and a deep understanding of the region's architectural and natural context. The project aimed to transform an existing building into an aspirational model that resonates with the Caribbean's unique charm. By creating a friendly and iconic structure, the design team has successfully achieved their objectives.
Overcoming creative, technical, and research challenges, the design team utilized a combination of digital experimentation, drawings, 3D modeling, BIM technology, and digital manufacturing. This multidisciplinary approach allowed for the realization of an organic and dynamic design that captures the essence of the Caribbean.
The new Cancun Center, with its strong roots in the destination, represents a contemporary icon that embraces the natural beauty and architectural context of the Caribbean. Designed by sanzpont [arquitectura], this rejuvenated landmark is poised to leave a lasting impression on visitors and locals alike.
