Tranquil Dwelling: A Villa that Embodies Oriental Simplicity and Elegance

A Unique Design Inspired by Nature and Traditional Chinese Art

Inspired by the beauty of bamboo and the tranquility of a plum blossom fragrance, designers Wen Su & Zhongyong Wu have created "Tranquil Dwelling," a stunning villa that combines simplicity, elegance, and a return to nature. This innovative design showcases the use of bamboo as a design language, symbolizing modesty and playing a vital role in both ancient and modern living environments. The villa is a model room with five floors, each meticulously planned to create a brand new lifestyle experience.

The strength of "Tranquil Dwelling" lies in its simplicity and appropriateness. Despite the limited space, every floor is carefully designed to maximize functionality and create a sense of spaciousness. The layout is well thought out, ensuring that each area is well-utilized and logically arranged. The design achieves a perfect balance between simplicity and elegance, creating a harmonious and inviting atmosphere.

The realization of this design is a testament to the use of contemporary techniques to convey an oriental artistic conception. By subtracting heavy and complicated design elements, the designers have created a simple screen that extends the shape of bamboo, giving the villa a unique and striking appearance. The living and dining room layouts define the spatial limits and embody the sparse and patchwork nature of traditional oriental design. This innovative approach to modern human habitation is a refreshing departure from conventional design practices.

With a total area of approximately 500 square meters, "Tranquil Dwelling" showcases the use of wood finishes and furniture to embody the oriental style and Zen aroma. The designers have carefully selected materials and furnishings that enhance the overall aesthetic and create a sense of tranquility and elegance throughout the space.

Through the entryway, visitors are greeted by a living room that seamlessly connects to the dining room, creating a transparent and splendid space. The well-proportioned layout is further enhanced by a strategically placed screen that extends from the second floor ceiling. As visitors move forward, they are greeted by a stairway that adds a touch of luxury and grandeur to the design. The use of voids structures on the first and second floors adds a high-end and gorgeous touch to the overall design.

"Tranquil Dwelling" was completed in a six-week timeframe and is located in Kuichong, Shenzhen, China. The design was born out of a desire to create a quiet and peaceful living space for modern individuals who are constantly bombarded by the stresses of city life. By simplifying the design language and incorporating elements of traditional Chinese art, the designers have created a space that offers respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

This innovative design overcame challenges such as a small budget and limited floor area. The client's requirements for a comprehensive functional space, including a golf area, recreation area, large cloakroom, main bathroom, and double-height living space, were successfully met. The design team's ability to balance functionality with aesthetics is evident in every aspect of "Tranquil Dwelling."

"Tranquil Dwelling" has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the Silver A' Design Award in 2016. This prestigious award is a testament to the remarkable level of expertise and creativity showcased in this design. With its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, "Tranquil Dwelling" evokes positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.

Experience the beauty of "Tranquil Dwelling" and embark on a journey of simplicity and elegance. This design is a true masterpiece that brings together art, architecture, and lifestyle in perfect harmony.
