Splash Pendant: A Collision of Art, Nature, and Technology

The Splash pendant is a testament to the beauty of transient natural phenomena. The designers, Nazanin Akbarian and Fatemeh Safikhani, drew inspiration from the moment a stone piece collides with water, a sight often overlooked due to its fleeting nature. With the help of freeze-shot technology, they captured the fluid splashes and used them as the main element of their design.

What sets the Splash pendant apart is its representation of a pure, ephemeral moment. The pendant's fluid spiral form, designed based on the collision between a solid object and liquids, is a visual delight. The spiral forms, with their golden ratio, create a pleasing appearance. The pearl, metaphorically representing the stone piece, adds a touch of elegance to the pendant.

The pendant was designed using Computer Aided Design (CAD) technology, specifically Tspline and Rhino/Vray. The material used is 18K white gold and black pearl, adding to the pendant's luxurious appeal. The pendant weighs 8 grams and has dimensions of 30 mm X 32 mm.

The Splash pendant is more than just a piece of jewelry; it's an interaction piece. Its free forms, derived from nature, make it a casual jewelry piece suitable for everyday use. The project, developed in 2015 in Tehran, Iran, took around 40 days from start to finish.

The design process was not without challenges. The biggest hurdle was creating a fluid form that vividly represents the liquidity of water. However, the designers' efforts paid off when the Splash pendant was awarded the Golden A' Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design Award in 2016. This prestigious award is given to outstanding, trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom.
