Over the years, HISUSHI has carved a unique niche in dining fashion. However, as with every cutting-edge trend, there comes a point of simplification and return to nature. The Lake Store marks this turning point. Here, quality is communicated to guests through simple ingredients, flavors, and service, reflecting a natural tide in the restaurant's development.
The Origins of Style stands out for its pioneering approach to design. Abandoning complex forms, the design lets the materials speak for themselves. The most essential materials are given the time and space to tell their quietly profound story, leaving an indelible mark on the heart of the viewer. This approach challenges the ephemeral visual impact created by complex designs, offering a more enduring and profound experience.
The realization of this design involved the use of veneer as a substrate of the overall texture. Traditional Japanese elements, direct and timeless, form the background. A second layer, featuring a subtle, traditional Japanese-style blue and white pattern, covers the front of the space, creating a contrasting yet harmonious visual effect.
Spanning 160 m2, this sushi bar is a harmonious blend of traditional Japanese style and modern design principles. The restaurant, located in a bustling business area in Taipei, was completed in October 2015. The design team, led by CHUN-SUNG,YANG and YU-CHENG, LO, faced the challenge of simplifying the established image of HISUSHI while maintaining its distinct identity.
The Origins of Style has left an indelible mark not only on the hearts of its visitors but also on the design industry. It was awarded the prestigious Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2016. This award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, advancing art, science, design, and technology.
