CREAM Irvine: A Charming and Playful Ice Cream Shop

A Unique Design Inspired by Warm Cookies and Cold Ice Cream

What sets CREAM apart is its simplicity, charm, and happy atmosphere. The design incorporates simple materials, unique lighting, and a variety of colors to create a space that exudes playfulness. Blue and yellow lighting intensify the joyful ambiance, while the combination of blue, yellow, white, and brown materials amplifies the happy energies. Every form, light, and color in the store is carefully chosen to reflect the essence of cold ice cream and warm cookies, making the design of CREAM truly distinctive.

The realization of this design involved the use of simple white surfaces, blue subway tiles as a symbol of "CREAM," LED lighting for energy efficiency, and oven exhaust technology to create the enticing smell of freshly baked cookies. The 190 square meter space features a 6-meter-wide storefront, stained concrete floors, and an open ceiling, giving it a modern and inviting feel.

When customers enter CREAM, they are greeted by a line where they can choose their ice cream flavor and cookie. As they wait, they can enjoy the happy atmosphere and take in the unique design of the store. The project, which started in January 2015 and finished in June 2015, is located in Irvine, California, USA.

The design of CREAM was not without its challenges. Situated in a less frequented area of a shopping center, the team had to come up with creative solutions to make the shop eye-catching. The entire storefront was rotated to face the main plaza, making it visible from afar. Additionally, the storefront was completely redesigned to further enhance its visibility, ensuring that passersby could hardly resist stepping inside.

Hootan Hamedani and his team conducted extensive research to find the perfect combination of materials, lighting, and colors that would make CREAM a happy and charming store. Their attention to detail and dedication to creating a unique space paid off, as CREAM was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2016 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative interior space.

The design of CREAM is a testament to the power of simplicity and playfulness.
