Take Off: A Monumental Painting of Hope

Uplifting the Atmosphere of a Psychiatric Hospital

The inspiration behind "Take Off" was to uplift the plain atmosphere of the brownfield, which used to be the area of Zizkova barracks. The painting, drafted on the face of the psychiatric hospital, transforms the building into a ship of hope, ready to set sail. The white and blue colors symbolize purity and hope, playing with the changing properties of clouds and the sky, providing a unique look every time one gazes upon it.

What sets "Take Off" apart is its ability to come alive and carry away the viewer's attention. The monumental painting, with its moving sails, creates a sense of movement and dynamism. The design team, consisting of three academic painters, will use their own specially made templates placed on a netting to realize the painting. High-quality and highly durable facade colors will be used to ensure the longevity of the artwork.

The interaction with the design is twofold. Firstly, it aims to uplift the spirits of the hospital patients, allowing them to embark on a hopeful journey beyond the confines of their walls. Secondly, it reaches out to all those who come across the building, evoking a certain feeling or expression without words. The painting radiates a sense of motivation and inspiration, leaving the audience with something to think about.

The design of "Take Off" was not without its challenges. One of the biggest obstacles was the interruption of the wall's unity by wires over the windows. Instead of trying to cover them, the designer embraced them and incorporated them into the design concept. The windows became the supporting middle, a pole from which the sails wave in harmony.

Realized in June 2016 in Pisek, Czech Republic, "Take Off" stands as a testament to the power of art to transform spaces and inspire hope. This design has been recognized for its excellence, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in the Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category in 2016. It is a well-deserved accolade for a creation that not only meets professional and industrial requirements but also contributes to a better world through its fulfillment and positive feelings.
