Revolutionizing Workplace Design: easyCredit House

An Activity-Oriented Work Environment for Team Bank

The easyCredit House, designed by Evolution Design, is transforming the workplace design in the banking sector by offering employees an activity- and needs-oriented work environment that encourages fairness, creativity, and collaboration.

The main inspiration behind the easyCredit House was to support Team Bank in creating a workplace that reflects their vision and values of openness, fairness, and creativity. To achieve this, Evolution Design collaborated closely with the project team on the client's side, conducting in-depth research, staff surveys, and interactive workshops.

The easyCredit House revolutionizes the traditional banking workplace by providing employees with a work environment that fosters team culture, encourages spontaneous meetings, and promotes cross-department collaboration. The building is designed to increase interaction opportunities and stimulate creativity and innovation.

To introduce activity-based working, the building is divided into two main functional areas: homebases and meet & create zones. The homebases, located in the outer ring of the building, offer a unique mixture of different workplace typologies to cater to the diverse needs of employees. The inner ring consists of meet & create zones, inspired by the concept of a marketplace, park, or street scene, which serve as drivers for creativity and innovation.

The easyCredit House spans three floors above ground level and includes one floor of underground parking, with a total floor area of 15,200 m2. The building's design allows for flexibility and adaptability, enabling easyCredit to change and adjust its operational setup without the need for major renovations or furniture relocations.

The development of the activity-based workplace concept involved extensive research on occupancy and work typologies. The insights gained from this research allowed for a share rate of 75%, freeing up more space for informal and communication areas. Throughout the design process, representatives of the employees and user groups provided feedback and participated in interactive workshops, ensuring that their needs, identity, and vision for the new workplace were represented.

The transition from a traditional office with dedicated desks to an activity-based working concept posed a significant challenge for the client. To overcome this, a sophisticated change management process and detailed communication strategy were implemented, involving user groups and fostering open communication. This inclusive approach was crucial to the success of the project.

The easyCredit House, completed in January 2015 in Nuremberg, Germany, has received recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2016. This prestigious award honors designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements.

The easyCredit House, with its activity-oriented work environment, stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design in creating spaces that inspire collaboration, creativity, and productivity.
