The Sacred Bowl ring, designed by Gulsah Surel Erdem & House of DIV, draws its inspiration from a bowl used by Ottoman Sultans in the 17th Century. Believed to possess healing properties, the original bowl was decorated with charms and prayers. The ring, like the bowl, is adorned with 99 different names of God, a reference to the symbols and letters used in the original artifact. This connection to history and culture sets the Sacred Bowl ring apart from other jewelry designs.
The ring is not just a piece of jewelry; it is a symbol of protection and health for its wearer. Crafted from 14K Gold, diamond, and ruby, the ring is a testament to the fine craftsmanship of the artisans in Istanbul's Grand Bazaar. The part of the ring connecting the bowl to the band is a nod to the imperial standard of the Ottoman Empire, further cementing its historical significance.
The design process was not without its challenges. The main hurdle was recreating the shape of the sacred bowl in the form of a ring. The project, which began in September 2014 in Istanbul, was completed and exhibited in February 2016. Despite the challenges, the final product is a ring that is as unique as it is beautiful.
The Sacred Bowl ring has been recognized for its exceptional design and craftsmanship. In 2016, it was awarded the Golden A' Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design Award. This prestigious award is given to outstanding creations that reflect the designer's skill and wisdom, embody extraordinary excellence, and significantly impact the world with their desirable characteristics.
The Sacred Bowl ring is more than just a piece of jewelry. It is a piece of history, a symbol of protection, and a testament to the skill and creativity of its designers. Whether worn for its beauty or its symbolism, the Sacred Bowl ring is a unique and meaningful addition to any jewelry collection.
