GLANCEZ SS16 The Garden: A Playful and Sophisticated Collection

Bringing Art to Fashion with Unique Floral Prints

GLANCEZ, a Hong Kong-based label, has unveiled its stunning SS16 collection, The Garden, which seamlessly blends culture, beauty, and high-quality clothing. Inspired by watercolor paintings from Russia, this collection features unique floral prints that are sure to draw attention and make a statement.

The SS16 collection from GLANCEZ showcases the talent and creativity of the brand's main designer, Zera Ng, and co-designer Janice Cheong. The standout feature of this collection is the floral prints, which are the result of a collaboration with a Russian artist specialized in landscape watercolor painting. The original hand-painted artwork has been translated into digital prints, creating a truly unique and eye-catching design.

One of the key strengths of this collection is the choice of fabric. The designers have opted for neoprene, a synthetic material that creates an airy and voluminous look. This fabric not only adds a touch of sophistication to the designs but also ensures that the prints stand out and do not sit heavily on the body. The enlarged floral prints cover the unseen parts of the body, adding a playful yet elegant touch to the collection.

GLANCEZ has gone above and beyond to ensure the highest quality in the realization of this collection. Legal permission was obtained from the artist for the reproduction of the paintings, and the hand-painted artwork was meticulously translated into digital prints. The fabric materials used in the collection include neoprene and chiffon, both synthetic materials known for their durability and versatility.

The collection includes a range of stunning pieces, including the Peonies Pleat Top, the Color Block Collar Pleat Top, and the Sakura Pleat Dress. Each piece is made from 95% polyester and 5% spandex, ensuring a comfortable fit and excellent quality. The dimensions of each piece have been carefully considered, with lengths ranging from 53cm to 82cm.

Creating this collection was not without its challenges. The textile printing process required careful attention to detail, as the original prints came in smaller dimensions with a higher density of flowers. The team had to enlarge the prints and remove some of the flowers to achieve the desired effect. Pleating the neoprene fabric also presented a challenge, as it required higher temperatures and precision in attaching the pleated silhouettes.

The GLANCEZ SS16 The Garden collection was launched online in Malaysia in September 2015 after months of meticulous planning and production. Since its debut, the collection has received recognition and collaboration opportunities from major fashion companies. GLANCEZ was also nominated as the representative of Malaysia for WFW Paris, further cementing its status as a brand to watch.

GLANCEZ's SS16 The Garden collection is a testament to the brand's commitment to creating unique and innovative designs. By bringing art and fashion together, GLANCEZ has created a collection that is not only visually stunning but also reflects a playful and sophisticated style that every woman can enjoy.
