USAePay, designed by Hootan Hamedani, is not your ordinary office space. Inspired by the old industrial look of the warehouse it occupies, this high-tech office embraces the industrialized materials and structural elements of the building. The design showcases the beauty of exposed materials and fixtures, creating a unique and captivating work environment.
The office space spans 167 square meters, with an additional 70 square meters of loft space integrated into the complex old structure system. The concept behind USAePay was to stay true to the building's materials and structure, resulting in all structural and non-structural elements being exposed and visible. This design approach sets USAePay apart from traditional office spaces.
To achieve the desired industrial and high-tech look, the design team opted not to cover any of the materials or fixtures with layers or coats. The office features metal surfaces, structural bolts, high-tech glass, mechanical and decorative pipes, and intricate handcrafted light fixtures. These elements contribute to the overall industrial and high-tech character of the space.
The functionality of USAePay is equally impressive. The first floor serves as an open work/office space, which can also be utilized as a conference area. Additionally, a loft area within the space houses a break room and a private office/conference room.
The project, located in Glendale, California, began in November 2014 and was completed in June 2015. Throughout the design process, the team drew inspiration from technology and space ship concepts, incorporating sharp materials and LED lighting to create an engaging and dynamic environment.
Despite challenges such as limited height and the presence of old trusses, the design team successfully transformed the warehouse into a one-of-a-kind office space. USAePay stands as a testament to the power of creativity, innovation, and the integration of industrial and technological elements.
USAePay was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2016 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious accolade recognizes the design's practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial requirements. It is a testament to the fulfillment and positive impact that well-designed spaces can have on individuals and the world at large.
