Microbial Marvel: The Secret World Inside You

Amnh 3d Design Team's Award-Winning Exhibition Redefines Perception of Microbes

In an era where microbes are often misunderstood as harmful, the Amnh 3d Design Team's exhibition, "The Secret World Inside You," seeks to challenge this perception. This innovative exhibition, housed in the American Museum of Natural History, showcases the crucial role microbes play in our bodies and the world around us.

The exhibition, inspired by the team's research on the importance of microbes, aims to educate the public about the symbiotic relationship between humans and these microscopic organisms. The design team has used their expertise to create an immersive experience that explores the unseen world of microbes and their impact on our future.

What sets this exhibition apart is its unique approach to visualizing the invisible. The design team has employed a variety of techniques, including larger-than-life models, interactive projections, and art installations, to bring the microbial world to life. The exhibition's layout, marked by floor-to-ceiling Kaos walls, guides visitors on a journey from the unseen world of microbes to their influence on our future.

The exhibition was realized using a combination of in-house fabrication and cutting-edge technology. The introduction space, for instance, creates an infinite effect using mirrors and LED lights. Oversized microbes are fabricated from foam, fiberglass, and fluorescent paint. The exhibition also features a 14-foot interactive projection and a 6-foot tall glass Winogradsky column, representing a microbial ecosystem.

The exhibition is housed in an 8,500 square foot gallery space with 16-foot ceilings, designed to be easily altered when traveling to locations of larger or smaller dimensions. This adaptability, along with its innovative design and educational value, has earned it the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017.

The project, which began in June 2013 and opened in November 2015, was conceived and produced in New York City. The exhibition will close in August 2016 and then leave the American Museum of Natural History as a traveling exhibition. The Secret World Inside You is a testament to the Amnh 3d Design Team's commitment to educating the public about the natural world in an engaging and innovative way.
