Fashion Mixture: A Unique Blend of Design and Atmosphere

Architect Ming-Sheng Liang Transforms TGI Fridays into a Relaxing Oasis

The restaurant, located on the ground and second floor of a composite mall, is a colorful and bright representation of American country style. The design is intended to put people at ease and create a relaxed environment, a stark contrast to the heavy traffic and confusion noises of the surrounding area. The interior includes a bar, open kitchen, and dining area, extending the spirit of FRIDAYS.

Upon entering the restaurant through a separate entrance, visitors are greeted by a large forged staircase. The black bricks and ceiling, the cultured-stone wall, and dangling lights present a unique porch area. On the other side of the seating area, black and red couches and chairs, a dark wood veneered wall, and a painting of skyscrapers create a sedate and fashionable lobby atmosphere on the limited-space first floor.

The main colors in the wide dining area are red, black, and brown. The designer has used the same design ideas on the first floor, placing a long couch close to the wall and structural column. Varied table-and-chair sets, along with round mirrors on the ceiling, endow the space with fun and changes, making it rich in diversity.

The design was realized using iron products, wooden materials, glass, mirrors, cultured stones, and furniture. These elements, combined with the design skills of Liang, connect the interactive relationship between human and space. The restaurant has become a major role integrating employees’ passion and clients’ smile.

The project, which covers an area of 556 square meters, was completed in May 2016. It is a testament to Liang's ability to overcome creative, technical, and research challenges to create a design that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and engaging. The design was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
