Cocodd: The Perfect Wedding Dress

Ambra Castello's Innovative and Functional Design

Cocodd is a unique and versatile wedding dress that combines comfort, functionality, and beauty. Designed by Ambra Castello, this dress stands out with its originality and innovative use of materials.

Inspired by the idea of the perfect dress that excites and satisfies the bride, Cocodd is a shaped dress below the knees, complemented by a long skirt. What sets it apart is the special plumber's tape teflon handmade enhancement, which creates a fray effect on the dress straps, the final part of the veil, and the skirt edges. This enhancement not only adds a touch of uniqueness but also showcases an innovative fur-like texture, all while being animal-friendly.

One of the standout features of Cocodd is its removable veil, which offers four different variations of use. The bride can choose to wear it on her face, hooked on the shoulders or back, or dropped to create a train. This versatility allows the bride to customize her look throughout the day, ensuring she always has the perfect outfit for every moment.

When it comes to the production of Cocodd, Ambra Castello utilizes Teflon plumber's tape crocheted to create the shaped dress below the knees. The tape is also carefully worked by hand to achieve the desired fray effect. This unconventional material is water-repellent, fire-resistant, and requires no ironing, making it practical and convenient for the bride. The skirt, on the other hand, is made from scuba fabric, known for its durability, flexibility, and resistance to wrinkles, water, and UV rays.

Cocodd is designed to fit women between 165 cm to 175 cm tall, with sizes ranging from 38 to 42 (Italian size). Its adjustable nature ensures a comfortable and flattering fit for a wide range of body types.

Ambra Castello's research and creative process for Cocodd focused on introducing unconventional materials and offering unique benefits to customers. The use of plumber's tape teflon as yarn not only sets the dress apart from other brands but also contributes to sustainability, as the material can be reused to create new garments.

The creation of Cocodd presented its own set of challenges. Crocheting the dress using plumber's tape teflon, a material not typically used for clothing, required time, patience, and experimentation to find the right working technique. However, the end result is a dress that is truly one-of-a-kind.

Designed and realized in Troina, Cocodd made its debut on the catwalk at Sposinlove in Catania in November 2016. The dress has garnered recognition and accolades, including the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Fashion, Apparel, and Garment Design category in 2017.

Ambra Castello's Cocodd is a testament to the marriage of innovation, functionality, and beauty in the world of wedding dresses. With its unique design, versatile features, and sustainable materials, Cocodd offers brides the perfect dress for their special day and beyond.
