E-graphics communications, a renowned design team, has created a captivating brochure for the Nissan SERENA that showcases the vehicle's advanced performance and its ability to enhance the lifestyle of families and friends. With a unique one-side foldout style, this brochure takes readers on a visual journey, immersing them in the excitement and possibilities that the new SERENA offers.
The inspiration behind this design was to highlight the new SERENA's advanced performance while focusing on the experiences and adventures that families and friends can enjoy together. By using a one-side foldout style, E-graphics communications successfully dramatizes scenes and creates a dynamic storytelling experience.
When opening the brochure to the 2-page spread, readers are greeted with the new SERENA's advanced exterior. As they continue to explore, the one-side foldout reveals images of lively people engaging in various activities, showcasing the vehicle's capabilities and the vibrant lifestyle it enables.
What sets this brochure apart is its ability to depict the new lifestyle that the new SERENA can provide. It showcases activities that have gained popularity in Japan, such as canyoning, climbing, and glamping, with a family and their friends having fun and taking on new challenges. The brochure seamlessly integrates these lively depictions with the introduction of the vehicle's advanced functions, creating a cohesive narrative that resonates with potential buyers.
E-graphics communications employed various techniques to bring this design to life. The three consecutive spreads, utilizing the one-side foldout style, allow for a seamless transition between the vehicle's main styling and the lively scenes with the vehicle. Actual shootings were conducted, capturing real people engaging in the activities, which were then combined with the vehicle image in post-processing. The vehicle body and interior images were created using 3DCG, ensuring perfect quality and a nearly indistinguishable representation of the real vehicle.
With a size of 250-mm square and 70 pages, this brochure is saddle-stitched and comes with a DVD containing a family's trip going glamping. It is also worth noting that the brochure uses "FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved paper," which is made from thinned wood, showcasing E-graphics communications' commitment to sustainability.
Automobile brochures in Japan serve as incentive items for targeted customers, conveying both emotional and functional qualities to potential buyers. They can be obtained either at dealerships or through online orders. The brochure also serves as a means for new owners to obsess over their purchase and fantasize about driving it while waiting for the car to be delivered, which can take up to three months in Japan.
The Nissan SERENA brochure was released simultaneously with the launch of the vehicle in August 2016 and will continue to be used until the model gets updated. Its design reflects the meticulous research and creative effort put forth by E-graphics communications and their team members, including Executive Creative Director Tomohira Kodama, Creative Director Seiichi Yamashita, Art Director Junichi Sugawara, Copywriter Iwaki Shiraishi, and 3DCG by EGC D-PT/CG Creative.
This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017, highlighting its outstanding creativity and ingenious approach. The award acknowledges designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
