In-Between Dances: A Rhythmic Fusion of Art and Architecture

Creating a Harmonious Connection Between Indoors and Outdoors

Situated among the waterscape outdoors, the In-Between Dances design by Tseng Chuan Chieh seamlessly integrates the natural beauty of the surroundings with the interior of a residential household. This innovative reception foyer design captivates visitors with its rhythmic curves and harmonious interactions between the ceilings, grounds, and walls.

The design inspiration for In-Between Dances came from the desire to create a visual connection between the outdoor waterscape and the interior space. The elegant curve sculpture extends from the outdoor environment to the reception counter indoors, and further to the ceiling, with its vertical and horizontal lines reaching the entrance of the elevator to the residential households.

What sets In-Between Dances apart from other designs is its unique ability to create in-between rhythmic dances that sweep across the grounds and extend through the countertop. The rhythmic curves continue from the walls to the ceilings, seamlessly connecting the interior and exterior spaces. The mirror image of the rough gray stone over the surface of the lake reflects the natural serenity of the surroundings, adding a touch of tranquility to the design.

The realization of In-Between Dances involved the use of artificial stones that are discoloration-proof and crack-proof. These stones were carefully incorporated into the waterscape outdoors and extended to the reception counter indoors. The stone texture lines on the floor and the lines over the ceiling were precisely blended with the artificial stones, creating a seamless integration of materials.

With a total area of 616 square meters, In-Between Dances is a testament to the technical prowess of Tseng Chuan Chieh. Overcoming the challenge of working around reserved pipelines in the reception counter area, the elegant curved artificial stones were meticulously designed to align with the stone materials on the floor and blend seamlessly with the pattern on the ceiling.

The In-Between Dances design not only captivates visually but also functions as a bridge between the outdoor and indoor spaces. The elegant curved line creates a natural flow from the outdoors to the entrance of the residential households, leaving a lasting impression on visitors.

Completed in February 2016 in Kaohsiung City, In-Between Dances showcases the meticulous research and attention to detail that went into its creation. The choice of special artificial stones from Spain was driven by the need for materials that could withstand strong sun exposure and vaporous contamination, ensuring the longevity of the design.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. The award acknowledges In-Between Dances as an outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authentically combines art, science, design, and technology. It exemplifies strong technical and creative skills while contributing to the improvement of quality of life.

With In-Between Dances, Tseng Chuan Chieh has created a masterpiece that harmoniously blends art, architecture, and nature. This design serves as a reminder of the beauty that can be achieved when creativity and technical expertise come together.
