2016 North America Nextgen Leaders Academy: A Vision for the Future

Revitalizing Leadership through Design

The 2016 North America Nextgen Leaders Academy is a North American integration conference held in New York as part of the Vision 2020 project hosted by World-okta North America. Co-sponsored by chapters in 12 regions based in North America, this event aims to develop a long-term plan by 2020 while continuously promoting, managing, and supporting the next generation of leaders.

The branding for the 2016 North America Nextgen Leaders Academy, designed by Sangmin Shim from fivemfive, captures the essence of this visionary event. The logo, a combination of OKTA's "O" and United's "U," symbolizes the unity and harmony between World-okta and the chapters within North America. The colors of the logo, inspired by the national flag of Korea, highlight the foundation of World-okta and the conference's origins in Korea.

One of the unique features of this logo is its ability to adapt and evolve. The symbol rotates clockwise every year, representing the concepts of future, progress, and advancement. As it rotates by 90 degrees annually, it also symbolizes the directions of east, west, south, and north. This dynamic element reflects the ever-changing nature of leadership and the continuous growth of the Nextgen Leaders Academy.

The logo's versatility allows it to be used in various applications such as pins, textbooks, stickers, invitation cards, certificates, cue cards, and name tags. Each year, different logos will be used at the conference venues while maintaining the same concept until 2020. This not only promotes unity among the chapters but also signifies the successful integration of organizations based on diversified regions and conferences.

To bring this design to life, high-quality offset printing and manufacturing technologies were utilized in New York. Additionally, a team of skilled modelers and printers in Korea and Canada produced the 3D materials like badges, name-tags, and stickers. The attention to detail and craftsmanship in the production process ensures that the design's vision is fully realized.

The 2016 North America Nextgen Leaders Academy logo has garnered recognition for its excellence. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2017, a prestigious accolade that recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations. This award highlights the logo's ability to meet professional and industrial requirements while contributing to a better world.

The 2016 North America Nextgen Leaders Academy logo embodies the spirit of the conference and its vision for the future. It serves as a powerful symbol of unity, progress, and the continuous development of the next generation of leaders. Through its thoughtful design and adaptability, this logo reinforces the importance and meaning of the event, inspiring participants and stakeholders alike.
