Kube Arquitetura, a renowned design team, drew inspiration from the history of the old hotel where the restaurant is located. Despite the building not being designated as a historic site, the team opted to preserve the original materials as a tribute to the antique construction. The floors and tiles of the restaurant were maintained, acting as symbols of the town’s history told through architecture.
The design team introduced contemporary elements to the space, designing copper lamps, a wooden counter, black square-lined doors, and two wooden trees. These elements bring a sophisticated and contemporary feeling to the original elements of the space, creating a unique blend of old and new.
One of the unique properties of the Mirante Paineiras design is its integration with nature. The design not only aimed to unite the center with its visitors but also to reveal the surrounding forest to those visiting Christ the Redeemer. The restaurant offers infrastructure for the 10 thousand daily visitors that await their turn to see the statue, providing a unique sensory experience.
The restaurant, spanning 480sqm, is located on the ground floor of Paineiras' Visitors Center. It offers a variety of meals for visitors to try, with a bar and an outdoor area that provides a stunning view of Rio de Janeiro's South Zone. The project started at the end of 2015 and was completed in July 2016.
The Mirante Paineiras design has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, winning the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017. This prestigious accolade is awarded to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise, creativity, and technical characteristics, introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
In conclusion, Kube Arquitetura's design of the Mirante Paineiras restaurant is a brilliant example of how modern design can be harmoniously integrated with historical elements and natural surroundings. It stands as a testament to the power of design in enhancing visitor experiences and preserving cultural heritage.
