Angelique: A Sculpture-Like Bag Inspired by Architecture

Merve Palit Okcan's Unique Bucket Bag Wins Silver A' Design Award

Merve Palit Okcan, the designer behind the brand Merveau, created Angelique with a vision to design a unique shaped bucket bag. The bag, inspired by architecture and art works, is a perfect mix of quality craftsmanship and timeless style. Its three-sided body and hexagon base make it an unusual yet sophisticated bucket bag. The bag is crafted with nappa calf leather and features a special textured lining, an interior pocket with the Merveau logo, and an adjustable shoulder strap.

The creation of Angelique was not without challenges. The main challenge was to create a sculpture-like body with mesh sides and geometric shapes. Initially, the idea was to use titanium mesh for the sides. However, due to the thinness of the titanium mesh, it failed to maintain the straight shape at the sides. The final and successful solution was to use fabric mesh, which provided the desired transparency and shape.

Angelique is not just about aesthetics; it's also about functionality. The bag offers enough space for daily use and features an adjustable shoulder strap and an inner pocket for essentials like perfume and lipstick. The bag is handcrafted through a three-week long process, demonstrating the brand's commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

The design process of Angelique started in Brussels and was handcrafted with love in Istanbul. The project, which began in November 2015, was completed in March 2016. The bag's design was the result of extensive research and multiple prototypes, all aimed at creating a unique and aesthetically pleasing bucket bag.

Angelique's unique design and quality craftsmanship have not gone unnoticed. The bag was awarded Silver in the A' Fashion and Travel Accessories Design Award in 2018. The award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. This recognition is a testament to Merve Palit Okcan's commitment to creating unique, high-quality fashion accessories.
