The design process involved extensive research into various styles and techniques, which were then recreated in 3D using Autodesk Softimage and SideFX Houdini. The most challenging part of the project was achieving the desired look while managing render times. However, once the initial setup was completed, the advantages of 3D technology became evident, including the ability to animate and reuse models and light situations.
Duft's unique properties lie in its ability to leverage the advantages of CGI for product visualization. The design showcases the perfume bottle in motion, adding a new dimension to the way products are presented. This innovative approach sets Duft apart from traditional product photography, offering a fresh perspective on product visualization.
The Duft project was not only a technical achievement but also an artistic one. Elsner's design was inspired by the work of Charles Helleu, a renowned photographer known for his creative ideas and impeccable quality. The animated perfume bottle captures the essence of Helleu's work, translating it into a dynamic, 3D format.
The Duft design was recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in 2018, a prestigious honor awarded to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The award is a testament to the design's technical excellence and artistic skill, as well as its ability to evoke positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
