The Beauty of Garden

The Beauty of Garden, an interior design project by Cheng-Hsien Kuo, showcases a unique approach to creating a harmonious living space. The design takes inspiration from the idea of a garden, where different areas seamlessly blend together to create a serene and inviting atmosphere.

One of the standout features of this design is the entrance of the residence. A large marble wall adorned with patterns inspired by the mathematical rule "Fibonacci" creates a visually stunning effect. The unpolished stone bricks on the wall surface add a touch of roughness and antiquity, while the glittering characteristic along the brick joints brings a modern presence to the porch.

The traffic flow at the porch leads people to different areas based on their functions. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a spacious living room, distinct from the study room and dining room by the ornamental display cabinets on both sides. This design choice allows for flexible space arrangements while maintaining a smooth flow in the public area.

The residence spans 413 square meters and is located in Taichung City, Taiwan. The project was completed in March 2016. The design team, led by Cheng-Hsien Kuo, carefully considered the different atmospheres in the public and personal spaces, creating an intermediate space that adjusts moderately to these variations.

The challenges encountered during the design process were overcome with creative solutions. In the dining room, a classical-style chandelier hangs from the gleaming and polished ceiling, adding a touch of grandeur. In the study room, sunlight filters through the ceiling window, illuminating the bookshelves that are interlaced with plates, giving them the appearance of a painting frame.

The Beauty of Garden is a testament to the power of thoughtful design. By seamlessly blending different areas and functions, Cheng-Hsien Kuo has created a space that is both visually stunning and functional. This design has been recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2018, showcasing its excellence and innovation in the field.
