The design team, led by Chief Design Director David Chang, and including Jerry Luo, Jade Li, Yaoming Xu, Jingshen Li, Xiaomin Liu, Jolin Fan, Berry Ling, Michelle Feng, Michelle Zhou, Lily Liu, Synthia Liang, and Yiying Du, took inspiration from the verses of Du Fu, a renowned Chinese poet. The verses, depicting a beautiful scene where the sun lingers over a landscape alive with birds and sweet with the breath of early spring, served as the foundation for the design's concept. The team combined these traditional Chinese aesthetics with classical American elements to create a unique vision of reunion in a nice season, set off in American style.
The China North Island Show Villa stands out for its unique properties. As residences by the bay, the sea, and in the mountain fail to meet the demand of top customers, the new lifestyle of island life began to attract their attention. The Villa, located in a much sought-after ecological environment, is a paradigm of island life for the world. The design team utilized earth tones typical of American style, embellished with gold and silver to level up the sense of quality. Traditional Chinese colors bring in uniqueness and fun to the space.
The design realization technology involved the application of light grey, warm white, ocher, and sandal color as the primary tones, balanced by grey, black, white, and wood color commonly used in modern decoration. The spacious show flat is configured in the classical symmetrical structure to achieve harmony in proportion and ratio. The archway and the strength of framework convey honor and grandeur of the heroic first generation of pioneers.
The design project commenced in January 2016 and was completed in June 2017. The design team faced challenges at the early planning stage, including the optimization of the layout based on the circulation route. This included the swap of the elevator and the stairway location and the addition of an elevator for servants. Despite these challenges, the team managed to create a design that is both functional and ornamental, with each space decorated based on the interest, hobby, and lifestyle of the user.
In conclusion, the China North Island Show Villa is a testament to the innovative and creative prowess of David Chang and his team. The design, which blends traditional Chinese aesthetics with American neoclassical architecture, is a unique and refreshing take on luxury island living. The Villa, a Silver A' Luxury Design Award winner, is indeed a paradigm of island life for the world.
