Bureau 58: A Stunning Office Building in New Cairo

Eye-catching design meets sustainability and functionality

The Bureau 58 project, designed by Sameh Farid, is a remarkable office building located in the heart of New Cairo, Egypt. With its unique curved lines and contrasting colors, this building stands out as a symbol of innovation and sophistication.

The inspiration behind the design of Bureau 58 was to create a visually striking project that would capture attention and leave a lasting impression. The use of white curved lines and dark gray glassing achieves this goal, making the building a true standout in the business district.

What sets Bureau 58 apart from other office buildings is its distinctive layout. The project consists of three buildings, with two of them connected by the same entrance and the third building having its own separate entrance. Each level spans an impressive 6000 square meters, with the basement occupying the entire land size of 15500 square meters.

The realization of Bureau 58 involved the use of cutting-edge construction materials. The main construction materials include white finish FRP (fiber reinforced polymer), a curtain wall made of heat-strengthened neutral grey solar control glass and aluminum, and white quartz tiles for the flooring. The interior walls feature various types of cladding for a unique and modern finish.

With a plot size of 15500 square meters and a total built-up area of 6000 square meters, Bureau 58 stands at a height of 16 meters. The design team, led by Sameh Farid, paid meticulous attention to detail to ensure that the building not only looks impressive but also functions efficiently.

Bureau 58 is not just a visually stunning building; it also prioritizes sustainability and energy efficiency. The project aims to achieve LEED and WELL certification, focusing on energy-saving technologies, renewable energy production, emission reduction, and low carbon footprint. Additionally, the design incorporates features to improve indoor air quality, conserve water, and create a comfortable working environment.

One of the main challenges faced during the design process was working within the constraints of the existing structure. The building was originally designed as a mall, and the project brief required transforming it into office buildings without making any changes to the columns, stairs, elevators, and shafts. The design team successfully overcame these challenges and created a seamless transition from the original structure to the new office buildings.

Bureau 58 is a testament to the vision and creativity of Sameh Farid. The use of curved lines and the contrast of colors not only create an eye-catching project but also reflect the surrounding environment. By incorporating sustainable design principles, Bureau 58 is a shining example of the green building movement.
