Arrow: A Dynamic and Luxurious Sofa

A Unique Piece of Furniture Designed by Alireza Shafieitabar

Shafieitabar drew inspiration from the origami philosophy, using minimal shapes and lines to design the Arrow sofa. The triangular forms in the design convey a sense of movement and dynamism, while the absence of symmetry adds to its beauty. From different angles, the lines and angles of the sofa converge and parallel, creating a captivating pyramidal shape. According to the principles of feng shui, the energy accumulated at the tip of the pyramid can visually reduce stress and anxiety, promoting a sense of calmness in the audience.

What sets Arrow apart from other sofas is its pyramidal shape, which not only adds to its visual appeal but also creates an optical illusion, making the environment dynamic and exciting. The sofa's metal structure is covered with injected foam, ensuring both durability and comfort. To prioritize sustainability, the design avoids the use of wood, opting for a stainless steel structure instead. The legs are made of pressed die-cast steel plate, further enhancing the accuracy and elegance of the design.

One of the unique features of Arrow is the smartly designed armrests, which include special places for a glass and a bottle. This thoughtful addition allows users to enjoy their favorite beverage while lounging on the sofa, adding to the overall luxurious experience. The main pyramid on top of the sofa is made through a casting mold, while the glass and bottle holders are made of recyclable polycarbonate, emphasizing the design's commitment to sustainability.

Functionally, Arrow is designed to provide maximum comfort and relaxation. The angled design of the back of the sofa's arm conforms to the natural angle of the human back and shoulder, ensuring ergonomic support. The combination of a leather cover and foam padding enhances the feeling of luxury and comfort, creating a unique sitting experience that stimulates both sight and touch.

The Arrow sofa project was initiated in Tehran in February 2018 and completed in November 2018. Throughout the design process, Shafieitabar and his team conducted extensive research to create a wood-free furniture piece that combines excitement and dynamism. The result is a sofa that not only serves as a functional seating solution but also adds a touch of elegance and innovation to any space.

Alireza Shafieitabar holds the copyrights for the Arrow sofa design, showcasing his creativity and commitment to pushing the boundaries of furniture design. The design has also received recognition in the form of the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2019. This prestigious award celebrates designs that exhibit outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
