Fleur Pavilia: A Testament to Resilience and Elegance

Artisanal Movement's New Residential Development in Hong Kong

The Three Friends of Winter - pine, bamboo, and plum blossom, are renowned in Chinese culture for their grit, perseverance, and resilience during the harsh winter months. Fleur Pavilia, the latest residential development project by New World Development Company Limited, draws inspiration from these plants, integrating their beauty into the clubhouse design, landscape design, and key communication visual design.

Located in Kai Yuen, a place steeped in cultural heritage, Fleur Pavilia stands out with its unique key communication visual design. The project site, resembling three flower petals, sparked the design team’s imagination, leading to the creation of a residential space that embodies elegance and sheer determination. The design encourages residents to persevere in any situation, much like The Three Friends of Winter.

The design was realized in collaboration with Kinfolk, with a photoshoot taking place in Stockholm. Renowned florist, Sarah Winward, arranged the flowers of The Three Friends of Winter for key visual and mood video production. The key visuals, photographs of the ikebana (Japanese floral arrangement) of pine, bamboo, and plum blossom, were adopted on a wide range of marketing collateral.

The design team faced challenges in understanding the history of Kai Yuen, conducting site visits, interviews, and secondary research on news, literature, and history. The aesthetic sense of the florist and the photographer was crucial in arranging the plum blossom petal, which would affect the mood and feel of the entire picture.

Fleur Pavilia was awarded Silver in A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The project started in 2016, and copyrights belong to New World Development Company Limited, 2018.
