Charlie's Sports Bar

A Vibrant Space Full of Conflict and Comfort

The skillful arrangement of space and materials in Charlie's Sports Bar accurately reflects the vibrant personality of the owner. The use of colored glass, brass, rough surface concrete, and walnut creates an interplay of light, sound, and sight lines, enhancing the interactions between customers and the owner. The orange and black storefront dramatically reflects on shades of grey, creating a space that is both full of conflict and comfort.

The design team utilized colored glass, brass, rough surface concrete, and walnut to bring their vision to life. These materials not only add visual interest but also contribute to the overall atmosphere of the bar.

Charlie's Sports Bar spans 100 square meters and includes a 14-meter bar, a private stateroom, and a kitchen. The layout and design of the space were carefully considered to ensure optimal functionality and customer experience.

Located in Taipei, Taiwan, the project started in April 2018 and was completed in July 2018. Throughout the design process, the team conducted extensive research to understand the target audience and create a space that resonates with them. They analyzed the personality traits that would most likely appeal to customers, such as warmth and straightforwardness, and incorporated these elements into the design.

One of the main challenges faced by the design team was balancing the atmosphere when the bar is not being used as a sports bar. They wanted to create a space that could transition seamlessly between different functions while still maintaining its unique character.

Charlie's Sports Bar was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2019 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design of Charlie's Sports Bar integrates industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings to its customers.
