Clad with wooden louvers, Nyoi Nyokki envelops its patrons in a warm and cozy environment. The walls and ceilings are covered with 30mm thick natural wood louvers, creating a sense of enclosure and privacy. The bar counter, the focal point of the pub, features wood louvers and is illuminated by glass pendant lights hanging from the ceiling, defining a spatial hierarchy within the space.

One of the most striking features of Nyoi Nyokki is the original aged wall that is revealed from behind illuminated liquor bottles. The aged wall, preserved behind steel plate shelves, adds a touch of history and authenticity to the pub. It is a nod to the traditional Japanese aesthetics of wabi-sabi, which celebrates the beauty of imperfection and impermanence.

The design of Nyoi Nyokki also takes into consideration the interaction between the pub and its surroundings. Guests enter through an intermediate space, creating a transition between the chaotic street outside and the cozy dining area inside. The entry corridor features wood louvers on the walls and ceiling, creating an inviting atmosphere and setting the tone for the experience to come.

Despite being situated on the second floor, Nyoi Nyokki cleverly utilizes the existing windows to create a sense of intimacy. The far side of the pub is elevated by one step, drawing the gaze upward and creating a cozy and secluded space. This design choice also allows for a visual connection between the interior and the exterior, inviting customers walking outside to step in and experience the calm and warm atmosphere of the pub.

The realization of Nyoi Nyokki involved the use of various materials and technologies. The wooden louvers, 30mm thick, cover the entire pub, creating a consistent and harmonious aesthetic. The bar counter features white artificial marble with wooden louvers, blending modernity with traditional elements. The backbar, where the liquor bottles are displayed, is characterized by plate shelves made of 3mm thick black steel, adding a touch of industrial elegance to the space.

With a total area of 100sqm and seating for 38 guests, Nyoi Nyokki offers a cozy and intimate setting for patrons to enjoy Japanese cuisine and drinks. The design of the pub, with its careful attention to detail and unique combination of materials, has garnered recognition and accolades. In 2019, Nyoi Nyokki was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category, celebrating its outstanding creativity and contribution to quality of life improvements.
