Muse: A Decorative Plate Inspired by Divine Presence

Muse, a decorative plate designed by Marianela Salinas Jaimes, brings a touch of divine inspiration to the dining table. This unique creation aims to make traditional plates more visually interesting while serving food. The illustration printed on the plate is an embodiment of a divine presence, adorned with delicate flowers that add an ethereal charm.

What sets Muse apart from other decorative plates is its meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. The illustration is stamped onto the ceramic plate using a serigraphic process, which involves curing at high temperatures to ensure the longevity of the design. This technique not only enhances the visual appeal but also makes the plate resistant to scratching, heat, and the wear and tear that comes from continual use.

The production process of Muse involves applying a serigraphic process on a vitrified sticker with special lead-free pigments. This ensures that the illustration remains vibrant and intact even after repeated use and washing. The plate measures 22 cm in width, 22 cm in length, and 2 cm in height, making it a versatile addition to any dining setting.

Muse is not just a decorative piece; it is also designed to be functional. It can be used to serve food, adding an artistic touch to any culinary creation. The plate is dishwasher and microwave safe, allowing for easy cleaning and convenient heating of meals without compromising the quality of the illustration.

The Muse project took a month to complete and was developed in Bogota, Colombia. The designer, Marianela Salinas Jaimes, conducted extensive research on decorative objects for the dining table and explored screenprinting techniques for ceramics. Overcoming the challenge of creating a detailed illustration that could withstand the demands of everyday use, Muse successfully combines delicacy, nature, and functionality.

Muse has been recognized for its exceptional design and received the Iron A' Design Award in 2019 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category.
