Nomura 2019 Calendar: A Modern and Luxurious Desktop Planner

Utilizing Printing Techniques to Create a Minimal yet Stylish Design

The Nomura 2019 Calendar, designed by Caxton Chung, is a unique and innovative desktop calendar that combines functionality with a modern and luxurious aesthetic. This three-month planner is specifically designed for project management and keeping track of deadlines, making it an essential tool for professionals.

The inspiration for the Nomura 2019 Calendar came from feedback received from previous users who highlighted the need for a calendar that could effectively manage long-term projects. The three-month planner layout allows users to easily check dates at a glance, providing a comprehensive overview of upcoming deadlines and important events.

What sets this calendar apart is its use of various printing techniques to achieve a modern yet luxurious style. The cover features the main visual element of the brand, repetitively placed to form a visually striking pattern that reinforces the brand's identity. The content pages, on the other hand, utilize embossing to present secondary visual elements, creating a minimal yet sophisticated look.

The dimensions of the Nomura 2019 Calendar are 255mm (W) x 175mm (L) x 20mm (H), making it compact and easy to fit on any desktop. The calendar is made using three different types of paper: two layers of 270gsm Oxford Black for the cover, 270gsm Oxford Peace for the calendar pages, and 150gsm Gilclear Oxford for the national holiday pages. This combination of black, grey, and semi-transparent paper adds to the modern and high-end feel of the design.

Functionality is a key aspect of the Nomura 2019 Calendar. It contains essential information such as the dates of 2019, national holidays of countries where the firm's offices are located, and the addresses of the firm's global offices. To differentiate the information, two different kinds of paper are used for the content pages. Grey Oxford Peace is used for the pages of dates, while semi-transparent Gilclear Oxford is used for the pages of national holidays. The pages are arranged in a specific order, with the national holidays page followed by the calendar page of the corresponding months, making it easy for users to find the information they need.

During the design process, one of the main challenges was creating a layout that could accommodate a large amount of information in a user-friendly arrangement. The solution was to separate different groups of information and print them on different kinds of paper for easy differentiation. Another challenge was keeping the shipping process cost-effective. The dimensions of the calendar were carefully chosen to fit in an A4 manila envelope, minimizing shipping costs while still providing a high-quality product.

The Nomura 2019 Calendar was launched in Asia-Pacific regions in January 2019 and has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2019 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and technical excellence, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

The Nomura 2019 Calendar is not just a functional tool but also a stylish addition to any workspace. Its modern design, combined with its practical features, makes it a must-have for professionals who value both aesthetics and functionality.
