Texas Hold’em: A Unique Theme Restaurant Design

Combining Board Games, Gourmet Food, and a Capsule Hotel

The first floor of the Texas Hold’em restaurant is designed as a business area with a main linear flow at its center. The front part near the entrance serves as the reception counter and dining area, while the center and rear part are dedicated to the board game playing area. This unique layout ensures a smooth and enjoyable experience for guests.

The multifunctional intermediate layer of the restaurant provides hotel services, offering a convenient and comfortable space for guests to stay. The overall design of the space features a fashionable black color scheme, complemented by a baked paint iron structure and interior lighting design. This combination creates a slightly raw, yet fashionable and themed atmosphere. The steel structures, reminiscent of the London Bridge, intersect with each other, while large poker cards float above, adding to the overall ambiance.

The Texas Hold’em restaurant spans an impressive 430 square meters, providing ample space for guests to dine, play board games, and enjoy the hotel services. The centerpiece of the restaurant is the poker card arena, which houses four large Texas Hold’em tables, each accommodating up to ten guests. Large screens are also available for viewers to watch the games, creating an immersive and exciting atmosphere. Additionally, a circular complex service counter is strategically placed in the arena area, ensuring efficient and prompt service.

One of the notable design features of the intermediate hotel area is the stacked beehive-like structure. The space is adorned with foggy black and honey yellow colors, enhanced by dark yellow projection lights. A unique and interesting design element is the viewing window installed in front of the beds. This window allows guests to observe the entire first floor, creating a captivating urban miniature of streets and squares. It is a truly unique and immersive experience.

The Texas Hold’em restaurant project was completed in April 2017 in Tainan City, Taiwan. The design team, led by Shou Jen Chen, overcame various creative, technical, and research challenges to bring this innovative concept to life. The raised dining area, moveable desks and chairs, and the installation of a dart arena were all carefully considered to enhance the overall dining and entertainment experience.

This exceptional design has been recognized for its creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit outstanding technical and creative skills, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Texas Hold’em restaurant design truly contributes to improving the quality of life and making the world a better place.
