Cyber Security Hall: A Fusion of Heritage and Technology

Reviving a University Theatre into a Cultural Museum

Designed by Dalia Sadany, the Cyber Security Hall is a unique blend of ancient heritage and modern technology. This museum, once a university theatre, is a testament to the timeless relevance of knowledge protection, from Ancient Egypt to today's cyber security era.

The Cyber Security Hall is more than just a museum; it's a cultural experience. The design concept was inspired by the discovery of a stage turntable during the renovation process. This theatrical element, often used for changing scenes, sparked the idea of a time machine, transporting visitors back to Ancient Egypt. The design reflects a journey through time, linking the past to the future, and highlighting the similarities between ancient and modern methods of protecting knowledge.

What sets this design apart is its authenticity. The layout, lighting, choice of materials, and even the custom-designed artefacts, are all carefully curated to enhance the visitor's experience. The artefacts are not mere replicas, but abstract versions validated by an accredited Egyptologist. The space is also multi-purpose, equipped for various corporate events and activities, making it a versatile addition to the technology park.

The realization of this design was a meticulous process. An Egyptologist was consulted during the design research phase, ensuring the authenticity of the abstract artefacts. The choice of materials, including antique finish grey Egyptian marble for the flooring and imported lava marble for the walls, was carefully considered to create an old-world effect. The turntable, a significant feature of the design, was treated and covered in gold leaf.

The Cyber Security Hall is a testament to the power of innovation and design. Despite the challenges faced during the renovation, including the lack of original construction drawings and the creation of a new basement, the end result is a unique space that seamlessly blends heritage and technology. The design elements, from the inscriptions on the marble walls to the custom-designed artefacts, all tell a story of knowledge protection, from Ancient Egypt to the present day.

The Cyber Security Hall is not just a design project; it's a cultural experience. It's a journey through time, a testament to the timeless relevance of knowledge protection. This design, which has been awarded the Golden A' Cultural Heritage and Culture Industry Design Award in 2019, is a testament to Dalia Sadany's innovative approach to design and her ability to create spaces that are not only functional but also tell a story.
