Brand Identity

Our inspiration came from our strap-line Real Music Real People. It derives from a combination of traditional and electronic mediums. The symbolic image of the record and its grooves, the sound waves from a cymatics visualization of sound, and the human interaction to the way music engulfs the human mind. Sound, movement, and energy were the key ingredients.

SoundRevel's brief was to create a bold, yet iconic identity for their global Music Festivals and Online Streaming App. They promote independent artists and DJs all over the world. They needed an identity that was timeless and felt well established. It also had to be flexible to be used across all digital and conventional formats. Our creative design used the iconic grooves of the record, evolving into sound waves radiating out from its center, which in turn form into simplistic human faces.

The icon was created by hand using an iPad and Apple Pencil, then saved as a vector image in Adobe Illustrator. It was produced for digital, printed materials, and textile use.

The logo is designed to be used at varying sizes, e.g. for use as a small icon on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, or to be used on large stage festival branding, printed material, and festival merchandise.

When the icon is used as an animated gif, light will pulse from the center outwards.

The project started in October 2018 and finished in January 2019 in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom.

Researched how sound waves appear visually. Researched how sound waves interacted when they increased in pitch.

To bring together different genres of music from old school vinyl to modern digital streaming into one icon. Also to bring the human element into the icon and have a synergy look and feel across the three elements.

The brief from SoundRevel was to create a bold, yet iconic identity with a feeling of movement, for their global music festival promotion company and online streaming app. The solution was to create a dynamic identity which uses the iconic grooves of the record as its core which evolves into sound waves radiating out from its center and in turn the waves create human faces. The identity was designed to be flexible and adaptable for the vast range of conventional and digital media required, including stage signage, promotional items, and online marketing.

This Design was awarded Bronze in A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2019. Bronze A' Design Award: Bestowed upon outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness. Esteemed for incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology, they exhibit strong technical and creative skills and contribute to quality of life improvements, making the world a better place.
