Revolutionizing Jewelry: Cameo Huang's 'Goddess'

Contemporary Urban Women Inspire Award-Winning Earring Design

Cameo Huang, in collaboration with Hooper Hu, created the 'Goddess' earrings with a clear vision in mind. They wanted to design a piece of jewelry that would accurately represent the qualities of today's urban women - educated, independent, and never lax in their mental outlook. The design needed to be neither too feminine nor too strong, but just right to express these distinctive qualities.

The 'Goddess' earrings are unique in their design and execution. They reflect the characteristics of contemporary women in two different postures - one standing with two feet level and shoulder-width apart, and the other with one knee lifted. The earrings feature two pairs of gemstones of different sizes in these two positions, cleverly calculated to be highly consistent. These gemstones represent the value of self-cognition and the social value of undertaking.

The creation of the 'Goddess' earrings involved sketching from multiple angles of the human body and using 3D sculpture technology to complete the human body modeling. The earrings were then cast in gold, and the position of the gem setting was adjusted. The delicate parts of the limbs required high precision for mold holding, and the polishing, welding, and other processes had to be handled with utmost care.

The 'Goddess' earrings project started in January 2019 in Beijing and was completed in May. The design process presented several challenges, including creating a vivid and conceptual human form. The designers chose to abandon facial features and hair, creating the image of a human with a more pure skull shape and body shape.

Winning the Silver A' Jewelry, Eyewear and Watch Design Award in 2020, the 'Goddess' earrings are a testament to Cameo Huang's innovative design approach and commitment to representing the strength and elegance of contemporary women.
