Source One Vodka: A Design Masterpiece

Aether NY, LLC's Award-Winning Design Inspired by Greenhouse Architecture

The design of Source One Vodka's bottle is a perfect blend of form and function. The glass structure, consisting of offset panels, creates a spiraling illusion when turned, reminiscent of stunning greenhouse architectural elements. The design team's inspiration is evident in every detail, from the choice of materials to the intricate design elements.

The vodka itself is distilled from locally grown oats and water from the Sierra snowmelt, reflecting the brand's commitment to sustainability and local sourcing. This commitment extends to the design process as well. The glass bottle is sourced from Pavisa in Mexico, and the labels are printed on Fasson Classic Crest cotton paper, with a combination of debossing, embossing, and foil stamping. The cap is a wooden closure with Birch Wood and natural cork, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication.

The design team faced a significant challenge in creating a seamless spiral for the glass bottle. They meticulously calculated the width of each panel to accommodate the bottle's circumference and moved them incrementally around. They also ensured the panels would be parallel to the glass mold, maintaining the design integrity when the glass was pulled out of a 2-part mold.

The Source One Vodka design project started in late 2018 and spanned to late 2019, with revisions and extensions to different variants. The design team, including Structure Design by Will Kang, Graphic Design by Adrian Ng, and Brand Manager Jae Henderson, worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. The result is a design that is not only visually stunning but also tells the story of the product's origins and the brand's commitment to sustainability.

The design's uniqueness and innovation were recognized with the prestigious Platinum A' Packaging Design Award in 2020. This award recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that showcase unmatched professionalism, genius, and contribute to societal wellbeing. Source One Vodka's design is indeed a defining aesthetic of its era, pushing the boundaries of art, science, design, and technology.
