Shimao City: A Contemporary Living Space

A Warm and Artistic Installation

The owners of Shimao City, a young brother and his elder sister, prioritize high-quality living. The design focuses on creating a warm and high-class atmosphere with a strong sense of design embodiment. The project progressed smoothly, with a significant amount of time spent on collecting and extracting elements of spatial cognition. The use of extremely narrow lineal material technology adds to the exquisite craftsmanship of the design. However, the emotional implantation of the theme posed a significant challenge.

In terms of realization technology, Shimao City combines modern style with a mix of materials. Large areas of stone, slate, and wood veneer create a visual and tactile experience that is both rigid and soft. Small areas of steel, metal, and glass add to the richness of details, enhancing the overall design.

The high-class atmosphere of Shimao City is also reflected in the attention to small details. For example, the doors feature a 1-centimeter embedded metal strip, while the walls have a 2-centimeter concave metal foot line. These small dimensions require high construction craftsmanship.

Shimao City is a contemporary living space designed for owners who have a high quality of life and appreciate artistic elements. The space is both practical and beautiful, catering to the owner's love for travel and artistic appreciation.

The project was designed from March to June 2019 and is located in Shimao City, Zhen Yuan, Fuzhou, China. The design process was based on the intersection between the owner's needs and the designer's understanding of space. The aim was to improve aesthetics while maintaining functionality.

One of the main challenges in the design process was how to use color and material attributes to reflect the desired feelings of each space. Additionally, the delicate finishing process presented its own set of challenges.

Contemporary living spaces should not only provide a warm atmosphere but also showcase the essence of contemporary art. Shimao City achieves this through the rational use of color and material combinations, emotional art sculptures, and decorative painting embellishments. The designer's personal touch is evident throughout the space, with classical picture frames and abstract art pieces in the art corridor cleverly addressing structural limitations.

The intellectual property and copyright for Shimao City belong to Zhenxiang Wu, 2019. The design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2020 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements, contributing to a better world.
