Seotun-saram is a service that addresses the lack of regulation in psychological counseling in Korea. It aims to combat the issue of unqualified individuals opening counseling centers by providing a platform that connects counselees with certified professionals. The inspiration for this design came from the desire to offer people a reliable and secure counseling service, ultimately improving their lives.
The strength of Seotun Saram lies in its unique approach to counseling. The name itself, which translates to "someone who is not skilled and used to," reflects the idea that everyone starts clumsily. To convey this message, a fairy tale was created to metaphorically represent the counseling process for individuals who are not familiar with it. This fairy tale is given to those who use the service, providing them with guidance and support.
The design of Seotun Saram incorporates warm paper textures, a lyrical navy blue reminiscent of the night sky, and hand-drawn icons. These elements create a comforting and inviting atmosphere, ensuring that clients feel at ease during their counseling sessions. By combining aesthetics with functionality, this design effectively communicates the message of hope and consolation.
Seotun Saram was realized using innovative technology that enables clients to access qualified psych consultancy centers. By providing a secure environment for counseling, this design ensures that individuals receive professional and reliable services. The technical specifications of this design include the use of warm paper textures, a soothing navy blue color palette, and hand-drawn icons.
The Seotun Saram design team, led by creative directors Donggyun Kang and Yangji Kim, along with designers Saea Kang, Jeesun Yim, Heejin Um, Habin Ku, and Inhwa Song, and developer Yumin Kim, worked diligently to overcome challenges associated with creating a friendly and warm image for psychological counseling. Their efforts resulted in a simple yet valuable design that promotes accurate psych consultancy information.
The project started in April 2017 and was completed in August 2018 in the Republic of Korea. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted to address the weaknesses in Korea's psychological counseling infrastructure. These weaknesses included the lack of regulation and the negative perception of counseling among the public. Seotun Saram aims to bridge these gaps and provide individuals with access to qualified counseling services.
Seotun Saram has been recognized for its excellence and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category in 2020. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate ingenuity and authenticity, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. Seotun Saram contributes to improving the quality of life and making the world a better place.
In conclusion, Seotun Saram, designed by Yangji Kim, is a remarkable corporate identity design that revolutionizes the perception of counseling. By providing a secure platform that connects individuals with qualified professionals, this design offers hope, warmth, and guidance to those in need. Through its unique approach and attention to detail, Seotun Saram sets a new standard for corporate identity designs in the field of psychology.
