Super Tomato and Endless: A Unique Office Design

Integrating Work and Life in a Two-Storey Space

When it comes to office design, there are several important questions to consider. What do employees want from their workspace? How can the workplace be made comfortable and pleasant? How can a company's values and beliefs be conveyed through interior design? And what will work look like in the future? These questions were all taken into account by the design team behind Super Tomato and Endless, led by Zhifei Li.

Super Tomato and Endless is not your typical office design. By breaking through the conventional norms, the design team added the idea of "home" into the space, creating an environment where work seamlessly integrates with life. The key to this design lies in the utilization of the floor height.

With an original floor height of only 4.4 meters, the designers utilized a one-meter-high sunken space to create a mezzanine, maximizing the use of the entire area. This innovative approach allowed for functional divisions for working, kitchen, and conference areas to be well arranged in the two-storey space without the need for rigid partitions.

The design features several unique properties that set it apart. The reception table at the entrance, made of white artificial stone, forms a sharp contrast with the self-leveling floor. The mirror-finish base of the reception table gives the illusion of it floating in the air. Glass doors are used extensively in the reception area, creating a bright and airy environment with ample natural light.

Super Tomato and Endless covers a project area of 350 square meters and was completed between February and October 2018. The design team, led by Zhifei Li, successfully overcame the challenge of the limited floor height by creating a sunken space, resulting in a two-story height for the first floor.

This unique office design has received recognition in the form of the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that showcase creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

Super Tomato and Endless is a testament to the power of innovative design in creating a workspace that seamlessly integrates work and life. By thinking outside the box and utilizing the available space to its fullest potential, Zhifei Li and the design team have created an office environment that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
