Chao Wen's Innovative Hotel Design: Mansions Design Inn

Revolutionizing Hotel Design with Modern Factory Aesthetics

Located in the bustling Guanyinqiao Commercial Street of Chongqing, Mansions Design Inn stands as a testament to the city's vibrant spirit and Chao Wen's innovative design approach. Drawing inspiration from the city's modern, prosperous appearance and its rich narrative, Wen created a hotel design that dialogues with the city through its modern factory theme.

The design's uniqueness lies in its clever utilization of space and its focus on comfort and experience. By leveraging the high layer-height relationship, the space is divided into two parts, effectively improving its utilization and considering the dynamic and static relationship from the functional partition. This division of space also allowed for the staircase to become a central expression carrier for each room, adding to the design's uniqueness.

Wen's design employs rich lighting forms and carpet settings to soften the coldness of steel. The use of dark red art paint not only enhances the sense of spatial hierarchy and wrapping but also infuses warmth into the space. The hotel covers a total of 800 square meters and showcases an elegant industrial style, reflecting modern simplicity and fashion.

Despite the challenges posed by the narrow and high-rise structure of the original architecture, Wen successfully created a visually and experientially complete hotel. The design includes convenient living functions such as a device for hanging clothes and hats in the sleeping area of each room and two bathroom spaces upstairs and downstairs in rooms with sufficient space.

The Mansions Design Inn is a result of thoughtful research and creative problem-solving. It embodies the symbols inherent in a factory to strengthen the visual theme, providing customers with an immersive experience from the moment they enter the room. This innovative approach to hotel design has earned Chao Wen the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020, a testament to his prodigious talent and wisdom in design.

As a final note, all copyrights for the Mansions Design Inn belong to Chao Wen, and the project was realized with the assistance of Weiwei Zeng. The project started in April 2018 in Chongqing and was completed in February 2019.
