More than 50% of private cars are not equipped with fire extinguishers, and over 70% lack escape hammers, posing a significant security risk. To tackle this issue, the team developed a compact device that can be easily placed anywhere in a private car. The design allows for the freedom to replace the fire extinguisher liner, ensuring long-term usability.
The Vehicle Safety Equipment utilizes dry powder, a fine solid powder that is easy to flow and can effectively extinguish gasoline fires. With dimensions of 60mmx60mmx200mm, this compact device provides a comfortable grip, making it easy for users to operate in emergency situations.
To use the Vehicle Safety Equipment, users simply need to open the product's safety valve, aim it at the fire source, and spray the fire extinguishing agent. Additionally, by turning the bottom of the product clockwise, the safety hammer appears, enabling quick escape from the vehicle.
The design project started in March 2019 in Zhengzhou and was completed in October 2019. Throughout the process, the team conducted extensive research, including user interviews with more than 30 individuals and desktop research. They discovered that traditional fire extinguishers were often too bulky and could only be used once, causing inconvenience for users.
This innovative design has received recognition and was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2020. The award acknowledges well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Vehicle Safety Equipment stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to creating a better world.
With the Vehicle Safety Equipment, Tongxin Zhang and the design team have addressed the need for compact, multi-functional safety equipment in private cars. This design not only improves escape efficiency during car accidents but also provides peace of mind for drivers and passengers alike.
