Heytea Nantong Mixc: A Harmonious Blend of Tradition and Innovation

Uno Chan's Award-Winning Design Merges Chinese Architecture and Modern Minimalism

Uno Chan's Heytea Nantong Mixc store design is a seamless fusion of traditional Chinese architecture and contemporary minimalism. The design, inspired by the unique "Bucket Arches" structure of Chinese architecture, has been awarded the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020.

The 200-square-meter store, located in a shopping mall near the street, is a testament to Uno Chan's innovative approach to design. Instead of dividing the area with partitions, Chan has maximized the use of lighting and spatial structure to create a fashionable, diversified, and transparent new tea store. The design adheres to a natural, low-key minimalism concept, creating a zen space with rich texture levels that offer a multi-dimensional sensory experience for customers.

The design's unique properties lie in its harmonious blend of traditional and modern elements. The facade integrates the characteristics of the original architectural structure of the site, making the project more compatible with the surrounding environment. The interior, decorated with clean and neat white strip bricks, ensures the transparency and brightness of the space, while also enhancing its simple and pure visual effect.

Chan's design also stands out for its innovative use of space. The integrated seat area and bar area break the traditional definition of a bar. By connecting the two functional areas with different attributes, Chan has not only increased the openness and interestingness of the space but also created a lively consumption atmosphere. This design choice also mirrors the link characteristics of the construction of the bucket arch structure.

The project, which started in March 2019 in Nantong and finished in June 2019, is a testament to Chan's commitment to inheriting Chinese traditional tea culture. The designer's research into the unique "Bucket Arches" structure of traditional Chinese architecture has resulted in a harmonious picture of cultural blending, expressed through the contemporary material of stainless steel.

Heytea Nantong Mixc is not just a store, but a space where tea and architecture blend seamlessly. Its design is a testament to Uno Chan's innovative approach, which has earned him the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020. The award recognizes top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
